I personally have never been to Sonoma County, but, people have brought me back things from there. Wine really does make a great gift.
This wine in particular was gifted to me by my parents who just came home from Sonoma a few weeks ago. They were so generous as to bring me back this bottle from Deerfield Ranch Winery.
Though I haven't been to this winery myself, I heard nothing but great things about their experience and man, was this an A+ bottle of wine.
Deerfield's 2013 Cabernet Reserve blends together a combination of (mostly) Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Aged for 30 years in French and American oak barrels, it has a beautiful, medium-heavy body with jam flavors and a dash of spice.
This wine stands well on its own, but if you're looking to pair food with this Cabernet, rich pasta or meat dishes (if you partake) would go nicely.
Let's have a round of applause for Mama and Papa Wright, and Deerfield Ranch, shall we?
